Broke college tips for your dream Vacation to Andaman and Nicobar

College is out, the beach is calling you. Andaman and Nicobar make the ideal destination for your peace break. Even if you’re not in college, you’re probably looking for a budget hack for your dream ‘island- destination tour’. Who doesn’t love a good discount?

Tips collated by the Gen-Z and the struggling millennials await you:

1. Plan in Advance

This is a standard tip that works for almost every location in the world. Planning in advance gives you an advantage against the rise in demand for flights and hotels, thereby increasing their prices. Look for flights and hotels months in advance during the off-season, or during sales deals by travel aggregators.

2. Try and visit during the offseason

The offseason period- May to September can turn out to be extremely cheap for a visit to the islands. If you don’t mind a little rain, the Andaman and Nicobar islands can exhibit a completely different side of its existence. 3. Finalize your means of travel carefully

In case you have plenty of days in hands, you may want to explore reaching the Andaman islands via ship, instead of air travel. In case of time constraints and a strict schedule, you may want to explore which part of India is offering the cheapest flights to the islands. The prices vary from different cities throughout India.

4. Enjoy budget-friendly activities

While beginner or advanced level scuba diving can prove to be an expensive affair for some people, you can enjoy a ton of activities that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Some of the activities that you can avail on a low budget is Kayaking through the mangrove forests of Havelock island; trekking through the Limestone caves or mangrove forests to Elephant beach; local fishing and angling tours; snorkeling, sea walking, glass boating, banana boating and jet ski on the beach; coral safari; and bird watching (which is surprisingly therapeutic).

5. Choose budget accommodations

Before finalizing a fancy luxury hotel, you may want to explore your options for small budget-friendly hotels, that are not located in commercial locations. Choosing the right location can help you save thousands, and get a picturesque homestay. A number of secluded houses are available on Airbnb, which are much better properties than luxury resorts.

6. Choose Public Transport

When you plan to travel across the Andaman islands, look for public transport routes while creating your itinerary. Almost all of the islands are well connected through buses and government-run ferries. Avoid taking the taxis at all costs, as they are insanely expensive in the islands. A well-planned trip can comfortably cost under INR 15,000 for 7 days. Are you up for the challenge?
